Description: An analytical tool that uses citation data from publications indexed in Web of Science to analyse research productivity, the impact of scientific outputs, and benchmarking through quantitative indicators to support strategic decision-making. To use the tool, users must register and sign in (the same login credentials as for Web of Science can be used). Registration must be completed from an IP address within the BUT computer network.
Access: Since 2019, access to this resource has been provided through the CzechELib National Licensing Centre.

Description: A reference management tool designed for creating and managing personal bibliographic databases. EndNote Web allows users to format references according to various citation styles required by publishers and academic journals, organise references into lists, and share these lists with other users. The Cite While You Write feature enables users to insert citations directly into Microsoft Word and automatically generate bibliographies in different citation styles. The service is available to BUT users through the Web of Science subscription in a limited version of EndNote Web. A paid version of EndNote offering additional features is also available. Registration is required.

Writefull

Writefull is a language editing tool and add-in for Microsoft Word and Overleaf, designed to proofread texts written in English. Further information on how to use the tool is available in the Introduction document. The add-ins can be downloaded from the PRODUCTS menu at www.writefull.com.

Description: Writefull provides advanced proofreading and language editing services for texts written in English.
Features: Writefull uses artificial intelligence (AI), specifically deep learning algorithms and an extensive language database. It checks texts using language models trained on millions of previously published academic papers. Writefull not only suggests improvements to texts but also demonstrates how words and phrases are used, how frequently particular words or phrases occur, and helps users compare the frequency of two words or identify words and synonyms commonly used in a particular context.
Types of language correction:
  • Vocabulary: Suggests alternatives to incorrectly used words or phrases.
  • Grammar: Checks the use of prepositions, articles, verb forms, noun forms, and other grammatical structures.
  • Style: Academic writing follows specific stylistic conventions. Writefull alerts users when these conventions are not followed or when the text is unnecessarily wordy.
  • Punctuation: Correct punctuation makes texts easier to read. Writefull corrects excessive, insufficient, or incorrect use of punctuation marks.
  • Spelling: Writefull draws on an extensive academic vocabulary, enabling it to correct even discipline-specific terminology.
